The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce Ryan Duguay has committed to the University of Northern Michigan. Duguay came to the Mustangs in the 2022-23 season playing 39 games with 13 goals and 24 assists. Returning for his 20-year-old season in 2023-24, Duguay played 34 games with 26 goals and 26 assists. Ryan’s clutch scoring under pressure to win in overtime in game 7 against the Humboldt Broncos will be a moment the community of Melfort will not soon forget.
Head Coach Trevor Blevins had this to say about Duguay. “Ryan is very deserving of his commitment to Northern Michigan. He has persevered through injuries and obstacles in his career and has always found a way to succeed. This is a true testament to his strong character. Ryan’s commitment to develop his game into a more complete 200-foot player was an important factor in our championship season. Not only did he score big goals for our team, he played a competitive heavy game. A great hockey player but more importantly a fantastic person who will definitely excel as a student/athlete with the Wildcats.”
Thank you Ryan for your time as a Melfort Mustang. We wish you nothing but the best in your future.
