REGINA, SK – The Melfort Mustangs have completed a multi-player transaction with the Kindersley Klippers, sending 2006-born forward Bryson Aikens to Kindersley in exchange for 2005-born defenceman Austin Osiowy and 2007-born forward Kaelen Simmonds.
Aikens, in his second season with the Mustangs, has continued to elevate his game after arriving from the Spruce Grove Saints. He has posted 13 points (7G-6A) in 19 games so far in 2025-26, following a 5-point campaign in 2024-25 and a productive playoff debut with 2 assists in 5 postseason contests. The Edmonton-area product brings an upward offensive trajectory and nearly 50 games of SJHL/AJHL experience to the Klippers’ forward group.
Coming to Melfort is experienced blueliner Austin Osiowy, who has appeared in more than 125 Junior A games across the AJHL, NAHL, and SJHL. Osiowy posted 22 points in 47 games with Kindersley during the 2023-24 season before spending 2024-25 in the NAHL with North Iowa, where he recorded 13 points in 55 games. The veteran defenceman has returned to Kindersley this season and has contributed 11 points in 23 games while logging significant minutes. His blend of mobility, physicality, and experience adds immediate depth to the Mustangs’ defensive corps.
Joining Osiowy is promising 2007-born forward Kaelen Simmonds, who is in his rookie SJHL season. Simmonds has already appeared in 12 games with Kindersley after an impressive U18 AAA campaign with the Prince Albert Mintos in 2023-24, where he totaled 29 points in 43 games.
