Shymko shines on final night

After Tyrell King received the bulk of the playing time down the stretch in Kindersley's net, Warren Shymko gave his coach something to think about, with a 42-save shutout in Humboldt, as the Klippers finished the season by blanking the Broncos 2-0.

Bryce Perpelitz opened the scoring in the first period, and that was all the scoring until Brandon Lauder found the empty net in the dying seconds.

The Klippers host Estevan for Game 1 of the Sherwood Survivor Series on Saturday night.

The other two games were both 4-3 overtime decisions, with the home teams coming out on top.

Brock Hounsell was the hero in Flin Flon, as the Bombers beat Melfort in the extra frame.  Jason Wark and Brett Boehm each had a goal and two assists in the win.  Boehm put the wraps on a 25-goal, 54-points rookie season.

Melfort's single point gave them sole possession of 5th place.  They'll visit Battlefords for Game 1 of the Northern Survivor Series on Friday.  Flin Flon will open the Conference Semis in Nipawin next weekend.

Hudson Morrison had a goal and two helpers, and Dylan Smith potted the OT winner, as Estevan also got by Notre Dame 4-3 (OT).

Smith had 16-goals and 26-points in just 19 games since returning to Estevan from the Eastern Junior Hockey League on Jan/10.

The Bruins are off to Kindersley for the weekend, while Notre Dame meets Melville in the Conference Semis, starting next weekend.
