The Canalta Hotels SJHL Player Of The Week is 1995 F Kailum Gervais (Kamsack SK) of the Yorkton Terriers. Gervais helped the Terriers keep their faint hopes for 9th overall alive by contributing 1-goal and 1-assist Tuesday night in a win over Notre Dame. Friday, he picked up two goals and one assist in a comeback bid against Estevan in which the Terriers got a crucial single point. He also a helper on Saturday as the Terriers, ultimately, fell short in their quest to move up in the standings. Gervais, a five year SJHL veteran, finishes with 10-goals and 28-assists in 49-games.
The SaskTel SJHL Goaltender Of The Week is 1996 G Zac Robidoux (Winnipeg MB) of the Flin Flon Bombers. Robidoux blocked 32-of-33 shots on Saturday night in a must-win game in La Ronge against the Ice Wolves as the Bombers try to avoid falling into sixth place overall. For the season, Robidoux goes into the final game of the year with a 20-13-0-and-3 record. He leads the league with five shutouts. He has a 2.74-GAA and .921-SPCT.
The IBAS SJHL Defenseman Of The Week is 1995 D Branden Scheidl (Saskatoon SK) of the Kindersley Klippers. Scheidl scored once and setup two others in a loss to Humboldt on Wednesday and also had an assist against Battlefords on Saturday to end the week with four points in three games played. Scheidl ends the season with 9-goals and 27-assists in 55-games and was one of the top offensive blueliners in the SJHL in his final junior year.
The SJHL Rookie Of The Week is 1999 F McKenzie Welke (Yorkton SK) of the Yorkton Terriers. Welke, also a league finalist for the yearly award, had a goal and four assists in three games played last week. He had two assists against Notre Dame on Tuesday and then picked up two helpers on Friday in Estevan before adding one more apple on Saturday versus Humboldt to end the season. Welke, despite having two years of midget eligibility when the season began, ends the season as Yorkton's leading scorer with 20-goals and 22-assists in 56-games.
