CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Chantz Petruic, Yorkton Terriers
1999 F Chantz Petruic (Moose Jaw SK) helped the Terriers win two tough games on the road by compiling 2-goals and 4-assists in 2-games played.  On Friday, he scored once and set up two others in a 5-2 win over the Melfort Mustangs, snapping Melfort’s 10-game winning streak. On Sunday, He got another three point outing with a goal and two assists as the Terriers won 6-3 at Humboldt.  For the season, Petruic has 16-goals and 18-assists in 26-games. Runner-up: Ty Enns, Kindersley.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK: Colten Gerlib, Nipawin Hawks
1999 D Colten Gerlib (Kamloops BC) chipped in on offense and was part of a defensive unit that continued to stymie the opposition.  Gerlib assisted on his team’s first goal in a 3-0 win over Estevan last Tuesday. He didn’t get a point on Friday, but the blueline’s play was a big reason why Melville only managed to register 16 shots in a 2-1 Hawks victory.  On Saturday, Gerlib set up two more goals, including hte overtime winner to beat Weyburn. For the season, Gerlib has 8-assists in 22-games played. Runner-up: Charles Martin, Notre Dame.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Justen Close, Kindersley Klippers
1998 Justen Close (Kindersley SK) led the Klippers with 43-saves in a 2-0 victory over the Humboldt Broncos on Thursday night.  Surprisingly, it was the first shutout of the year for Close. On Saturday, Close stopped 27-of-28 as the Klippers edged the Notre Dame Hounds 2-1.  Close ends the week with 70-saves on 71-shots. On the year, Close is 12-6-1-and-1 with a 1.98-GAA and .932-SPCT. He’s second in the league in both GAA and SPCT.  Runner-up: Pierce Diamond, Flin Flon.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Grant Boldt, Estevan Bruins
2000 G Grant Boldt (Detroit Lakes MN USA) won two of his three starts this past week and is now the uncontested number one netminder for the Bruins after a trade was made on the December 1st roster cutdown day.  Boldt made 32-saves and allowed only one goal in a win in La Ronge on Wednesday. Friday, he allowed one goal again, this time in a losing effort at Flin Flon as he made 30-stops. Saturday, he blocked 26-of-29 in beating the Melfort Mustangs.  On the year, Boldt is 7-and-9 with a 2.57-GAA and .911-SPCT with 1 shutout. Runner-up: Ryan Ouellette, Yorkton.
