The Flin Flon Bombers went into Nipawin and scored four straight goals to beat the Hawks 4-1 on Tuesday night.
The Bombers' day started early when they traded Dawson McKenzie and future considerations to the Weyburn Red Wings for Wings' captain and future Ferris State Bulldog Cade Kowalski. Kowalski was not in the lineup in Nipawin.
Colten Gerlib opened the scoring for the Hawks (27-11-1-1), but it was all Flin Flon the rest of the way.
Caleb Franklin, Vincent Nardone and Chrystopher Collin rattled off second period goals. Rookie Matt Flodell added his first SJHL goal in the third, and Jacob Delorme made 27/28 saves.
As of now, the Bombers (22-13-0-2) are a Wild Card team, sitting 7th, but the Kowalski move adds to an already dangerous group up front, and they're just two points shy of the top six, with games in hand on most teams in front of them and they'll look to close the gap in the competitive Sherwood down the stretch.
Turner Ripplinger scored a pair of third period goals and the Estevan Bruins doubled up the Yorkton Terriers 4-2.
While Yorkton appeared to be starting to run away with the Viterra Division, Tuesday's result leaves the Bruins (18-19-2-1) just four points back of their division leaders, and the Terriers' are now down to having two games in hand, while that number was five right before Christmas.
Jack Michell and Jayden Davis also scored for Estevan, while Grant Boldt made 24/26 saves.
Branden Klatt scored his 20th of the season for the Terriers (21-16-1-0) and Chantz Petruic added his 21st. Riley Lamb turned away 27/30 shots.
Melville heads into Melfort in Wednesday night's only matchup.
