The Battlefords North Stars ran their winning streak to nine games Tuesday as they out-shot the visiting La Ronge Ice Wolves 44-19 on their way to a 4-1 victory.

The Stars scored three times in the third period to break a tie and pull away, including a pair of Keaton Holinaty powerplay goals.  Holinaty finished with two goals and an assist.  Brett Horn (1g-1a) and Cody Spagrud also found the net, and Taryn Kotchorek made 18/19 saves, as the Stars held the Ice Wolves (2-15-0-3) to single digits in shots in each period.

Aaron MacKay made 40/44 saves and Jared Blaquiere scored for La Ronge.

The Stars (17-5-0-0) are now five points up on Humboldt for the Finning lead.

That lead in the Finning Division increased to five points for the Stars because the Notre Dame Hounds held off the Humboldt Broncos 4-3 on Tuesday.

Ben Duperreault, Adam Dawe and Brandon Sookro all had a goal and an assist for the Hounds (10-7-1-1).  Duperreault leads the league in scoring with 31 points (13g-18a).  Jacob Arsenault opened the scoring for the Hounds with a first period powerplay goal.

Michael Korol scored twice for the Broncos (14-6-0-1) while Xavier Labelle also hit the net.
