REGINA, SK – All three North Stars scored in the shootout, and Steele Bass made 42 stops on the night as Battlefords edged the Kindersley Klippers 4-3 in the skills competition Monday.
Only 20 games into the campaign, the Klippers have played in a remarkable 10 contests that have gone to overtime, and have won only three of them.
Still, their 27 points at the time of writing are enough to sit atop the league, albeit with three more games played than No. 2 Humboldt.
Kindersley was 7-5 in extra-time games a year ago, in a full 56-game regular season.
Battlefords’ forward Raiden Zecharias scored a goal, ending an 11-game goal drought to begin the season, and added a pair of assists that proved to be the game-high in points.
Kindersley’s 2008-born affiliated player, Tyler Hudec’s first career junior goal with 4:36 remaining in regulation, sending the game to overtime in the first place.
