Battlefords North Stars’ forward Nikita Ivaschenko has been selected to represent his native Ukraine at the upcoming 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation Division IB Under-20 World Championships.

The event, which will take place from Jan. 11 to 17 at the Tondiraba Ice Hall in Tallinn, Estonia, will also feature Italy, South Korea, Japan, and Poland, as well as the hosts.

Ivaschenko, 19, is from Kharkov, Ukraine. He has scored 34 points in 32 games for the North Stars this campaign. He has also represented his country twice, at the U20s last year and the Division IA Under-18 tournament in 2023.

According to Marty Smith, his head coach in Battlefords, Nikita is expected to wear a letter and be a key contributor at the event.

“We are excited for Nikita to get this opportunity to represent our organization and his country,” Smith said.

“He has worked hard to get this opportunity.”

The winner of the Division IB tournament will earn a promotion to next year’s Division IA tournament, which is the event that feeds into the top event where Canada plays.

Ukraine’s roster, which can be found by clicking here, includes players from Canada, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, and Poland, among other locales.
