PLAYERS OF THE MONTH (December)

RBC PLAYER OF THE MONTH:  Logan Schatz, Humboldt Broncos
1997 F Logan Schatz (Allan SK) led all forwards with 4-goals and 13-assists in 9-games played during the month of December.  Schatz, a four year Bronco, kicked off the month by recording points in six straight games.  His biggest single output came on December 3rd, when he set up four goals in a 7-2 win over the Yorkton Terriers.  He ended the month with four points in his last two games, including scoring his team’s only goals in a loss to Melfort on December 22nd.  Schatz has played 166 career games in a Humboldt uniform and has 40 goals 117 assists, which includes 51-points in 36-games so far this year.  Runner-up:  Brandan Arnold, Nipawin.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH:  Josh McDougall, Nipawin Hawks
1998 D Josh McDougall (Prince Albert SK) finished his ten game point scoring streak by racking up 16-points in a 6-game stretch from December 1st-December 15th.  The Hawks, who are the best team in the league record-wise, boast McDougall as their leading scorer.  He has 10-goals and 36-assists in 33-games on the year to also lead all defensemen in scoring.  McDougall, ultimately, finished December with 4-goals and 13-assists in 8-games.  He had four games of three points or more, including a 2-goal 2-assist effort against Melfort on December 1st.  Runner-up:  Loch Morrison, Melfort.

SASKTEL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH:  Jake Anthony, Nipawin Hawks
1999 G Jake Anthony (Grande Prairie AB) continued his winning ways with a 9-0-and-1 record during the month of December.  Anthony is actually 12-0-and-1 dating back to mid-November.  He had a shutout of La Ronge on December 19th.  He allowed two goals or fewer in seven of his last eight starts.  He posted a GAA of 1.98 and a SPCT of .924 in playing every minute during the final calendar month of 2017.  Runner-up:  Bo Didur, Estevan.

MYSASK 411 ROOKIE OF THE MONTH: Caleb Moretz, Flin Flon Bombers.
1998 F Caleb Moretz (Fairbanks AK) scored three goals and seven assists in ten games for the Bombers, who finished the month strong by winning three of their last four.  Moretz had two goals three assists in those final four games of the month and goes into January with points in five of his last six.  Moretz had three multiple point games during the month of December and is ranked 8th overall in the SJHL amongst first year players in point production.  Runner-up:  Dakota Huebner, Battlefords.
