The SJHL’s leading scorer paced all players with 15 points across the month of December and did it in just seven games. The Broncos went 6-1 throughout December, culminating with a five-game winning streak to wrap up 2021. Their top line of McGrath, Alex Morozoff, and Braiden Koran (who you will hear about shortly) combined for 38 points through those seven games.

RBC FORWARD OF THE MONTH: Braiden Koran, Humboldt Broncos

No one filled the net more than Braiden Koran over the course of December. After scoring just seven goals through the first 30 games of the season, the 20-year-old veteran piled up nine goals across a five-game stretch last month.
He also chipped in with five assists to give him 14 points in seven games, trailing only McGraths 15 for the league lead in December. Koran’s 33 even-strength points are also second in the SJHL, behind only, once again, his linemate McGrath’s 34.

Runner Up: Ben Tkatchuk, Melfort Mustangs

MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH: Hayden Tuba, Melfort Mustangs

It was a two-horse race in December.
The Broncos had McGrath and Koran lead the league in scoring but following that was six straight Mustangs as Melfort rumbled to a torrid finishing pace in December with eight straight victories.
Defenseman Hayden Tuba was a point-per-game throughout the month finishing with nine points in nine games. Monthly Stats (9gp, 2g-7a-9pts)
Runner Up:
Alex Moar, Melfort Mustangs

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Kael DePape, Yorkton Terriers

The Terriers went 4-1-1-1 through December, picking up 10 of a possible 14 points.
Every time they won, Kael DePape was in net.
The rookie goaltender and Yorkton native continues to impress and continues to help the Terriers separate themselves into a playoff comfortable position. DePape was third in the league in activity in December, playing 364 minutes. The biggest win of the month came on December 17th when the Terriers defeated the Estevan Bruins handing the Bruins their first loss within the Viterra Division. DePape turned aside 31 of 33 shots in that contest.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH: Trenton Curtis, Melfort Mustangs

Monthly Stats: (10gp, 4g-10a-14pts)
