PLAYERS OF THE MONTH (February)

RBC SJHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH:  Logan Schatz, Humboldt Broncos
1997 F Logan Schatz (Allan SK) racked up points in eight of nine games played this month and paced the SJHL with 5-goals and 15-assists overall.  Schatz, actually, goes into March with points in 14 of his last 16 games.  Schatz finished February with three straight games where he contributed three points on the scoresheet.  He had multiple point games in all eight that he factored in on the scoring.  For the season, Schatz is second in the league with 84-points, on 22-goals and 62-assists.  Runner-up:  Layne Young, Battlefords.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH:  Clayton Eisler, Melville Millionaires
1997 D Clayton Eisler (Edmonton AB) helped captain the Millionaires to their best month of the season as they went 6-2-and-2 and Eisler, himself, contributed 4-goals and 7-assists along the way and the Mils also tightened up their overall defensive game, with which Eisler plays a lead role  The workhorse blueliner scored goals in each of the last three games of the month and also had a three-assist game at Battlefords on February 3rd.  He has 19-goals and 22-assists in 54-games on the year.  Runner-up:  Josh McDougall, Nipawin.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH:  Parker Tobin, Humboldt Broncos
1999 G Parker Tobin (Stoney Plain AB) was red hot in the cold month of February, compiling a 7-and-1 record to go with a 1.99-GAA and .929-SPCT.  He also had a shutout against Melfort on February 19th.  Tobin began the month with four straight games in which he allowed two goals or fewer.  He has also assumed the number one role with the Broncos having played 8 of the last 9 and 14 of the last 17 dating back to January 10th.  For the year, he’s 14-5-and-1 with a GAA of 2.22 and a SPCT of .923.  He also has 2 shutouts.  Runner-up:  Colby Entz, Melville.

MYSASK 411 SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH:  Jordan Kazymyra, Weyburn Red Wings
1999 F Jordan Kazymyra (Regina SK) led the Red Wings with 7-goals and 4-assists in 11-games during the month of February.  A top rookie all year long, Kazymyra put up 2-goals and 2-assists in a game played February 3rd at Yorkton.  He also potted once and set up another in game February 21st at Estevan.  Kazymyra leads all rookies with 21-goals on the year.  He’s sixth in points with 38, but his 43 games is the fewest number of games played amongst those top six players.  Runner-up:  Logan Hunter, Humboldt.
