PLAYERS OF THE MONTH (February)

RBC SJHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH:  Jayden Davis, Estevan Bruins
1999 F Jayden Davis (Alameda SK) led the hot Estevan Bruins down the stretch drive by recording points in twelve straight games as the Bruins went from a fringe playoff team to the number six seed by virtue of their strong month of February where the Bruins went 10-and-2.  Davis scored 6-goals and 12-assists, which included a pair of two goal games (one at home versus Flin Flon and another on the road at Notre Dame). He finished the month with a three point effort against the Weyburn Red Wings. Davis scored 21-goals and 37-assists in 58-games overall, putting him ninth in SJHL scoring.  Runner-up: Tristan Shewchuk, Humboldt.

MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH:  Doug Scott, Humboldt Broncos
2000 D Doug Scott (North Vancouver BC) absolutely went off over the last four games of the regular season and paced all league blueliners with 7-goals and 11-assists in 9-games played.  Scott got 15 of those points during a stretch of games between February 17th – 29th and that included a four goal, five point outing versus Kindersley on the 17th. After back to back three assist outings after that, Scott collected two goals and four points in a victory over Notre Dame to end the year.  For the season, Scott finished with 10-goals and 20-assists in 26-games and projects to be one of the most prolific blueliners in the league next season. Runner-up: James Philpott, La Ronge Ice Wolves.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH:  Shawn Parkinson, Melfort Mustangs
1999 G Shawn Parkinson (Victoria BC) ended the year in spectacular fashion by recording shutouts in four of his last five games to push the Mustangs into the number three seed for the playoffs.  Parkinson blanked Weyburn with 15-saves on February 22nd. After Yorkton beat him for three goals in his next appearance, Parkinson then rattled off three more shutouts with 23 and 26 save efforts over Nipawin to complete home and home sweep and then he turned back 29 shots to blank Flin Flon on the last night of the regular season to go 8-2-and-3 with a 1.57-GAA and .935-SPCT during the month.  Overall, Parkinson led the league with a 2.36-GAA and he was 25-12-5-and-1 with a .919-SPCT. Runner-up: Philippe Bond, Yorkton.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH:  Tristan Lemyre, Flin Flon Bombers
2001 F Tristan Lemyre (Mirabel PQ) separated himself from the rest of the rookie pack in the second half of the season and he cemented his yearly award with a strong final month in which he scored 9-goals and 9-assists in 12-games.  Lemyre started February with a four point game against La Ronge and it was also part of a personal 13 game point scoring streak for him in which 7 of those games fell during the month of February. Lemyre also had a hat trick on the 19th against Weyburn and ends the season with 30-goals and 32-assists in 44-games played.   Runner-up: Logan Kurki, Humboldt.
