PLAYERS OF THE MONTH (January)

RBC SJHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH:  Nate Hooper, Flin Flon Bombers
1998 F Nate Hooper (Winnipeg MB) led all players during the month of January with 7-goals and 13-assists in 12-games played.  Hooper was a big part of a nine game Flin Flon win streak during which he produced 4-goals and 10-assists. His best game was on January 26th against Battlefords when he assisted on a third period goal to draw the Bombers to within one.  He, later, scored the game that forced overtime and then also notched the OT winner. Hooper begins this week with 22-goals and 53-assists in 47-games played and is seven behind league leader Justin Ball. Runner-up: Ty Enns, Kindersley.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH:  Josh Patrician, Humboldt Broncos
1998 D Josh Patrician (Calgary AB) paced the Broncos blueline with 1-goal and 9-assists in 10-games played during the month of January.  The Broncos went 7-and-3 over the time period and kept their goals against just under three per game. Patrician’s best game was on January 25th, when he set up three Bronco goals.  It was one of three multiple point games for Patrician in January. Overall, he has 6-goals and 27-assists in 47-games played. Runner-up: Brendan Mark, Yorkton.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH:  Jacob Delorme, Flin Flon Bombers
2000 G Jacob Delorme (Drummondville PQ) had a coming out party in January, making six starts and winning all of them to go along with a stingy 1.51-GAA and .949-SPCT.  He gave up two goals or less in five of those starts with his most impressive games coming on January 8th when he allowed just one goal to beat Nipawin and then on January 11th, he blocked 39 shots in helping the Bombers defeat Melfort.  For the season, Delorme is 11-and-3 with a 2.86-GAA and .910-SPCT. Runner-up: Declan Hobbs, Nipawin.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH:  Luke Spadafora, Melvile Millionaires
2000 F Luke Spadafora (Calgary AB) paced all first year players with 5-goals and 6-assists in 10-games played during the month of January.  He also stood out at the SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Regina in emerging as a top player. He also ended the month with back to back games of one goal and two assists, against La Ronge and Kindersley, respectively.  For the season, Spadafora has 10-goals and 14-assists in 28-games with the Mils. He had 3-goals and 11-assists in 17-games with Humboldt prior to a trade.
