SGEU MVP OF THE MONTH: Nicolas Samson, Melville Millionaires

The Melville Millionaires are right in the mix of a tightly contested playoff race for the 8th and final spot. The are going to need to go on a bit of a run with Notre Dame’s four games in hand. They’re going to need Nicolas Samson to continue his electric scoring pace to do so. No one in the SJHL had more points than Samson in January, picking up 16 points in 10 games.

RBC FORWARD OF THE MONTH: Marco Lopez, Melfort Mustangs

12 more points in nine games throughout January has Marco Lopez at over a point-per-game pace for the Melfort Mustangs this season.
Pacing the league with 10 helpers, there was only two games in January where Lopez didn’t find his name on the scoresheet, and only one player with more points last month. (See above).

MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH: Parker Jasper, Yorkton Terriers

If you’re not already used to Parker Jasper, you better get acquainted. The 2003-born rookie D-man is already on the top pairing for the smothering Yorkton Terriers in his first full SJHL season. He combines elite defensive play with offensive instincts that are now blossoming at a young age.
Jasper had just one point in his first 19 games this season.
He’s followed that up with 23 points in his next 23 games including eight points in the nine Terriers games in January.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH: Cam Hrdlicka, Estevan Bruins

Out of the 1A ,1B goaltending punch of Boston Bilous and Cam Hrdlicka, it was the latter who was the more active goaltender in January. Hrdlicka started six of the nine Bruins’ games last month, and picked up a point in every single game, going 5-0-0-1. His lone loss coming in a shoot-out the Terriers. Hrdlicka allowed just 11 goals on 180 shots, good for a 1.78 GAA and .939 SV%.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH: Tylin Hilbig, Kindersley Klippers

Speaking of players who are doing everything possible for their team to fight towards a playoff spot, Tylin Hilbig is among the leaders in that role. The Kindersley Klippers are neck and neck with the Hounds for the 8th and final playoff spot. Hilbig had 12 points in 12 games though January and the Klippers went 6-5-1-0. They sit one point back of 8th and final spot.
