CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kristian Stead, Nipawin Hawks
1996 G Kristian Stead (Merrit BC) won all three of his starts last week, including two by shutout–one of which was against the league leading Battlefords North Stars. For the week, Stead posted a remarkable .991 SPCT by making 112 saves on 113 shots (0.33 GAA). He lowers his season GAA to 1.93 and now has a .936 SPCT to go with a 21-and-9 record. Runner up: Eric Bolden, Nipawin.
SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Nick Trenciansky, Kindersley Klippers
1996 G Nick Trenciansky (Surrey BC) won both of his starts and the Klippers won all four games this past week in total. Trenciansky stopped 24-of-26 as they defeated La Ronge on Tuesday and then 25-of-26 in a win over Melville on Sunday. He now has a record of 8-and-10 with a 3.37-GAA and .911-SPCT. Runner-up: Justen Close, Kindersley.
IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK: Clive Rozdeba, Kindersley Klippers
1996 D Clive Rozdeba (Calgary AB) contributed on the scoresheet in all four games the Klippers played this past week, which were all victories. He set up goals Tuesday against Humboldt and Wednesday against La Ronge. He scored against Melville on Friday and on Sunday against the Mils as well. He now has 8-goals and 23-assists in 45-games. Runner-up: Austin Glenn, Nipawin.
SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Chaz Smedsrud, Notre Dame Hounds
1998 F Chaz Smedsrud (Luverne MN) has been on a tear in the month of January, being a contender for this nod each of the last three weeks. He had a goal and an assist against Yorkton on Tuesday and then did the same thing Thursday against Nipawin to boost his season stats to 11-goals and 9-assists in 30-games. He has 9-poings in his last 5-games. Runner-up: Nate Hooper, Flin Flon.
