PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Dakota Boutin, Melfort Mustangs
1997 F Dakota Boutin (Moosomin SK) led the Mustangs to a pair of victories this weekend, scoring the overtime winner against Notre Dame on Friday night and then picking up a hat trick and five points in a win over La Ronge on Saturday.  He’s up to 21-goals and 30-assists in 37-games on the year.  Runner-up:  Matt McNeil, Estevan.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Eric Sinclair, Flin Flon Bombers
1996 D Eric Sinclair (Kenora ON) picked up two assists in each of his team’s two road games in Yorkton this weekend.  He helped set up the tying goal on Friday night to send the contest to extra time and then had a hand in a pair of goals as the Bombers posted a 4-1 win on Saturday afternoon.  He has 30-points in 29-games as a Bomber and 9-goals and 26-assists in 31-games overall.  Runner-up:  Tyler Heidt, Melfort.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Colby Entz, Melville Millionaires
1998 G Colby Entz (Churchbridge SK) picked up a 34-save shutout on the road in La Ronge and then blocked 30-of-33 shots one night later in Nipawin as his team came up short in their bid to sweep their two road games.  Entz now has 3-shutouts on the season and is 9-and-6 with a 2.92-GAA and .917-SPCT.  Runner-up:  Brenden Newton, Flin Flon.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Jake Heerspink, Estevan Bruins
1998 D Jake Heerspink (Regina SK) had a goal and two assists in his team’s only game this weekend, a 7-4 victory over the Humboldt Broncos.  Heerspink now has 1-goal and 4-assists in 14-games since joining Estevan from the BCHL, where he had 5-points in 25-games.  Runner-up:  Chaz Smedsrud, Notre Dame.
