PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Layne Young, Battlefords North Stars
1997 F Layne Young (Frenchman Butte SK) unleashed a goal and four assists in the first two games of the SJHL semi-final series with Estevan, helping the Stars go up 2-0 in the set as the match-up heads to Estevan for game three.  Young has 3-goals and 9-assists in 6-games during the playoffs following a regualr season in which he scored 27-goals and 44-assists in 53-games played.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Eric Sinclair, Flin Flon Bombers
1996 D Eric Sinclair (Kenora ON) was unable to lead his team to a victory this weekend, but he did collect two goals and one assist in the first two games of their semi-final series with Nipawin.  Sinclair has 3-goals and 6-assists in 7-games during the postseason and he may need to be even better for the Bombers to push the Hawks to the limit in this series.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Kristian Stead, Nipawin Hawks
1996 G Kristian Stead (Merrit SK) stretched his playoff win streak to six over the weekend, shutting down the Flin Flon Bombers on back to back nights as the Hawks have grabbed a 2-0 lead in their best of seven set.  He stopped 37-of-38 shots in game one and then 34-of-36 in game two and now has a GAA of 1.67 and a SPCT of .951.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Owen Lamb, Battlefords North Stars
1998 F Owen Lamb (North Battleford SK) scored two goals, including one shorthanded, in game one of the North Stars’ win over Estevan in game one and has three points through the first two games of the series.  He has 5-points in 6-games (2 goals, 3 assists) through the postseason thus far.
