SGEU MVP of the Week & Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Josh Kotai, Battlefords North Stars

A big reason why the Battlefords North Stars have a 2-0 series lead in the SJHL Final is due to the play of 19-year-old goaltender Josh Kotai. In two games, this year’s Sasktel Goalie of the Year allowed just two goals and made a total of 51 saves. This included an impressive performance in Game Two where he earned a 36 save shutout.

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: Jackson Allan, Battlefords North Stars

Game Two of the SJHL Final was much tighter and lower scoring than Game One, but netting the game winning goal for the Battlefords North Stars was rookie forward Jackson Allan. The 18-year-old has quietly had a very good rookie season for the Stars and continues to find ways to chip in and help his team win hockey games. The game winner on Saturday was Allan’s 2nd goal of the SJHL playoffs, and he now has 6 points in 11 post-season games.

SuperU Defenseman of the Week: Lucas Fry, Flin Flon Bombers

If you missed Game One of the SJHL Final, there was a scary incident involving a skate blade in the first period involving Flin Flon Bombers Defenseman and Captain Lucas Fry. The 20-year-old was rushed off the ice and was taken to hospital. Fry had surgery Saturday in Saskatoon and is recovering. The entire SJHL would like to wish Lucas the best in his recovery and our thoughts and prayers are with him. We would also like to thank all of the great medical staff for their help and quick action following the incident.
