CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jake Gudjonson, La Ronge Ice Wolves
1999 F Jake Gudjonson (Golden BC) lit up the Flin Flon Bombers to the tune of 2-goals and 6-assists in 2-games played over the weekend. La Ronge had a 10-5 win on Friday and Gudjonson was the big producer with a goal and five assists. On Saturday, he had a goal and an assist in the third period as the Ice Wolves rattled off four in a row to come from behind and win in overtime. For the season, Gudjonson has 11-goals and 28-assists in 37-games. Runner-up: Chantz Petruic, Yorkton.
MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK: James Philpott, La Ronge Ice Wolves
2000 D James Philpott (Calgary AB) produced a goal and four assists in two games played over the weekend in a shocking sweep over the Flin Flon Bombers. Philpott, who has 4-goals and 13-assists in 19-games with La Ronge since coming over in a trade from Melville, picked up a pair of helpers in a 10-5 victory on home ice Friday night. Saturday, the Ice Wolves rallied late and Philpott was in on two third period goals and also scored himself in the first period. Overall, he has 5-goals and 25-assists in 36-games. SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Ross Hawryluk, Nipawin Hawks
2001 G Ross Hawryluk (Lloydminster AB) made 24-saves in his only start of the week, a shutout, over the division rival Melfort Mustangs on Saturday night. Hawryluk also appeared in the third period of a loss to Yorkton earlier in the week and was good on 7-of-8 shots to finish the week with a 0.77-GAA and .969-SPCT. Hawryluk, in his first Junior ‘A’ season, is 8-4-and-2 with a 2.36-GAA and .925-SPCT. He’s also registered three shutouts. Runner-up: Adam Dmyterko, Battlefords.
DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Olivier Lepine, Notre Dame Hounds
2001 D Olivier Lepine (Ile Bizard PQ) picked up a goal and four assists in three games played last week, two of which were Notre Dame wins. Lepine had one assist in a 6-3 victory over Estevan on Monday night and then erupted for three third period assists in a 4-0 victory at Kindersley on Thursday. He finished the week with a goal one night later at Battlefords in a 6-3 loss. For the season, Lepine has 2-goals and 10-assists in 25-games played. Runner-up: Aaron Greyeyes, La Ronge.
