SGEU MVP OF THE WEEK: Mark Rumsey, Estevan Bruins

Another three games the past week, and another five goals for the SJHL leader in goals and points.
Rumsey continued his strong pace with the Bruins who won all three games they played. The 20-year-old added back-to-back multi goal games in a 6-0 win over Nipawin on Tuesday and a 4-3 win over Melfort on Wednesday. He then helped start the comeback effort in a 4-3 victory over Yorkton on Saturday, scoring his league leading 24th goal this season. In total, Rumsey is up to 43 points (24g-19a) in just 28 games.

RBC FORWARD OF THE WEEK: Johnathan Krahn, Melville Millionaires

The Millionaires have picked up 10 out of a possible 14 points in their last 7 games and find themselves right back in the playoff race. The captain of the Mills, Krahn, has been a clear focal point of Melville’s turnaround. This week he added four goals in three games. Krahn has compiled 17 points in 22 game this season, 6 of which have come in his past 6 games.

MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENCEMAN OF THE WEEK: Colby Ball, Melville Millionaires

This past week’s scoring leading defenseman also came from the new look Millionaires. Colby Ball provided offense from the backend in both the Mills victories. He set up the insurance marker in a 3-1 win over Notre Dame, before adding two more assists in a 4-3 win over Weyburn. The lone time Ball wasn’t on the scoresheet came in the only game Melville didn’t secure two points.

Runner Up: Nolan Jones, Estevan Bruins

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Xavier Cannon, La Ronge Ice Wolves

When Xavier Cannon is healthy and, on his game, he’s unarguably one of the best goalies in the SJHL. He proved it this past week, leading the Ice Wolves to back-to-back wins in a weekend series against the Nipawin Hawks, stopping 45 of 48 shots for a .938 SV%. The Ice Wolves have snuck back into the 8th and final playoff spot. They are going to need to address their goals against average, and Cannon in net will be a big piece towards that goal.
Weekly Stats: (2GP, 2-0-0-0, 3GA, 45/48, 1.44 GAA, .938 SV%,)
Runner up: Cam Hrdlicka, Estevan Bruins

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Trenton Curtis, Melfort Mustangs

Once again, a rookie was tied for the league lead in points over the past week. Credit the youth movement in the SJHL for the laundry list of talented first-year players. Curtis suited up for 13 games in the AJHL in 2020/21, however still classifies as a rookie under the SJHL constitution. Thanks to his 6-point effort this past week, he now finds himself just one point shy of a point per game pace this season.

Runner up: Jacob Vockler, Flin Flon Bombers
