SGEU MVP of the Week: Mason Karakochuk, Nipawin Hawks

The Hawks had three home games this week against teams below them in the standings, so they needed to take care of business… and they certainly did. Karakochuk with Eric Hoiness and Sean Shiels continues to be as dominant a line as any, and was central to Nipawin outscoring the opposition 18-6 over the week. Karakochuk is on a 10-game point streak, with 20 points over that span, and is a very strong bet for the month awards next week as well. Speed, skill, shot, he’s got it all going on offensively right now.

Week Stats: 3 GP, 3 G, 4 A, 7 PTS

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Dru Mushumanski, Melfort Mustangs

Ever since the Mustangs acquired Mushumanski in November, everyone who knew the player was waiting for his sublime skills to pop off on the scoresheet. Well, consider him popped. A four-point night against La Ronge over the weekend should do a lot for his confidence, and he is on a 5-game point streak with 10 points over that span. The ex-Regina Pat is flying, especially with Noel Englot on the left wing of that top line.

Week Stats: 2 GP, 2 G, 3 A, 5 PTS

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Bo Eisner, Melfort Mustangs

There likely has not been a more consistent second-half defenceman than Bo Eisner, and with 40 points, he still leads the Mustangs in scoring from the back end. The veteran of two Mustangs’ championships has points in his last eight games in a row, with five of those contests being of the multi-point variety. He’s mobile, of good size, stays within himself offensively, and is just the complete package in our league right now. Sources say his commitment to an excellent University for next year is right around the corner.

Week Stats: 2 GP, 3 G, 1 A, 4 PTS

SaskTel Goalie of the Week: Callum Creig, Yorkton Terriers

The league’s leader in goalie wins continues his brilliant season, and despite playing even heavier minutes in the second half, he keeps getting better. Creig has only two losses in 14 games in 2026 so far, and was solid in shutting out the Humboldt Broncos Friday night. He is now in the Top 10 in all-time wins for a Yorkton goaltender, and while it is true the Terriers did a wonderful job shoring up their blue line at the trade deadline, Creig has been just as much a key to their success at keeping pucks out as well.

Week Stats: 1-0-0-0, 1 SO, 1.000 SV%, 0.00 GAA

SaskMilk Rookie of the Week: Griffin Wright, Warman Wolverines

Warman’s goaltending has been very up and down this year, so for Wright to pull out a terrific performance Saturday at home against Estevan is big for his confidence, and the confidence of the club. The job to start games seems open for the rest of the way for the league’s newest team, and the auditions to be part of next year’s team – that certainly projects to have more success than this year – are very serious. The rookie from Edmonton has all the tools, so can he put a few good games together now?

Week Stats: 1-0-0-0, .971 SV%, 1.00 GAA

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Eric Hoiness, Nipawin Hawks (from Saskatoon, Sask)

The pivot from Saskatoon has done everything, and done it well for the Hawks, really, since November. Nipawin has considerable forward depth, but he’s still producing so regularly despite the many mouths to feed. Four and three-point nights highlighted another great week for Hoiness, but they don’t tell the whole story, as he’s done a terrific job killing penalties and taking big faceoffs.

Week Stats: 3 GP, 2 G, 5 A, 7 PTS
