SGEU MVP OF THE WEEK: Matt Pesenti, Kindersley Klippers
It’s a week of goalies in the SJHL Players of the Week.
The first of three netminders picking up an award this week, and the most valuable player to the Klippers since the calendar turned to 2022 is Matt Pesenti. Last week was no exception.
Pesenti won every start, picking up back-to-back shootout wins over the La Ronge Ice Wolves (4-3) and the Yorkton Terriers (3-2), before dispatching the Weyburn Red Wings on Saturday (4-2)
The Klippers are going to need everything they can get out of Pesenti for the playoff push.
They currently hold on to the 8th and final playoff spot.

Runner Up- Olivier Pouliot, Estevan Bruins

RBC FORWARD OF THE WEEK: Jacob Vockler, Flin Flon Bombers

With a litany of talented 2003-born players in the SJHL this year, Vockler has been one that has flown under the radar and maybe hasn’t got the credit he deserved.
He paved the way for the Bombers with five points (3g, 2a) in 2 games played this past week, and now has 31 points (13g, 18a) in 40 games this season for the well-rounded Bombers in his rookie year.
Flin Flon won both games against the Battlefords North Stars and are standing strong in 3rd place in the league.
Weekly Stats: (2gp, 3g-2a-5pts)
Runner Up: Eric Pearce, Estevan Bruins

MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENCEMAN OF THE WEEK: Xavier Lapointe, Flin Flon Bombers

Another pair of goals for the league’s leading defender, while also a smothering aspect to the D-core that helped Bomber’s goalie, Cal Schell pick up his 6th shutout of the season.
Lapointe scored twice in the 4-0 win over the North Stars on Friday, before adding an assist in their follow-up win on Saturday.
The RIT Commit is now up to 41 points in 46 games, including an absurd 17 goals.

Runner Up: Jared Sych, Notre Dame Hounds

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Rayce Ramsay, Humboldt Broncos

The record-breaking workhorse goaltender continues to set the benchmark for wins in a 58-game season.
After setting the record with his 32nd win, Ramsay picked up two more victories this week, improving his record to 34-9-0-0.
Ramsay alone has more wins under his belt this season than 10 of the 12 SJHL teams. The immense number of minutes don’t seem to be deterring his game either, as Ramsay has allowed just one goal or less in his last three starts.
Weekly Stats: (2-0-0-0, 2GA, 42/44, 1.00 GAA, .955 SV%,)
Runner up: Cal Shell, Flin Flon Bombers

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Kael DePape, Yorkton Terriers

Although goaltenders maybe don’t get a strong enough look on a year-to-year basis, Kael DePape is making his case for the Rookie of Year in the SJHL.
The 2003-born phenom stopped 35 of 37 in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Klippers. Then he continued his elite play and turned aside all 26 shots in a 3-0 win over the Melville Millionaires for his 4th shutout of the season.
He sits second in the SJHL in minutes played, only behind Rayce Ramsay.
Weekly Stats: (2gp, 1-0-0-1, 61/63, 0.96 GAA, .968 SV%)
Runner up: Josh Morton, Kindersley Klippers
