CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Chrystopher Collin, Flin Flon Bombers
1999 F Chrystopher Collin (Bois de Filion PQ) had his best week of the season, starting with a Player Of The Game performance at the SJHL/MJHL Showcase on Tuesday when he fired a goal and three assists.  He then got to work on a three game in three day road trip with the Bombers and picked up 2-goals and 2-assists in what amounted to three Flin Flon victories. Collin contributed a goal and an assist on Saturday in Yorkton and then again on Sunday in Melville and is up to 14-goals and 25-assists in 40-games overall.  Since the flip of the calendar to 2019, Collin has 5-goals and 7-assists in 9-games. Runner-up: Colin Schmidt, Melfort Mustangs.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK: Eric Soar, Weyburn Red Wings
1998 D Eric Soar (Moose Jaw SK) has been on a torrid offensive pace since joining the Red Wings in late November and that continued this past week as he scored both of his team’s goals on Friday night against Estevan and then he got a goal and an assist on Saturday night.  The Wings had only one goal where Soar wasn’t involved this past week. Since donning his new uniform, Soar has 6-goals and 11-assists in 16-games played. That includes 5-goals and 4-assists in his last half dozen match-ups. Runner-up: Isaac Jackson, Flin Flon.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Riley Kohonick, Notre Dame Hounds
2000 G Riley Kohonick (White City SK) earns the nod for the second week in a row as the rookie back stop was the story in his start at the SJHL/MJHL Showcase on Tuesday, flirting with a shutout until he was finally beaten midway through the third period.  In league play, he made 22-saves and allowed just 2-goals against Yorkton on Friday and then he made 32-stops in an overtime defeat to the Battlefords North Stars. Kohonick is now 10-5-4-and-1 on the year with a 2.51-GAA and .920-SPCT. Runner-up:  Justen Close, Kindersley.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Michael Makarenko, Nipawin Hawks
2000 F Michael Makarenko (Calgary AB) had a weekend to remember in picking up his first three SJHL goals as part of a weekend Hawks sweep  of the La Ronge Ice Wolves. Makarenko opened the scoring on Friday night in what ended up being a tough 3-2 shootout win. One night later, he opened the scoring again and later added another in a 5-1 decision.  Makarenko has 3-goals and 7-assists in 33-games on the year. Runner-up: Vincent Nardone, Flin Flon.
