PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Jan 22)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Michael McChesney, Estevan Bruins
1998 F Michael McChesney (Dickinson ND) had a great week, making an impact at the SJHL/MJHL Showcase by scoring three goals in two games played and then carrying it over into league play with three goals and two assists in two games played against the Weyburn Red Wings this weekend.  He has scord goals in five of his last six league games and seven of his last eight if you include the Showcase.  For the year, he has 23-goals and 23-assists in 40-games.  Runner-up:  Justin Ball, Melfort.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Declan Hobbs, Nipawin Hawks
1998 G Declan Hobbs (Saskatoon SK) enjoyed the week off and came back refreshed and ready to go as he made 27-saves to shutout Notre Dame on Friday night.  He then blocked 21-shots less than 24-hours later in an afternoon shutout of the Yorkton Terriers.  Hobbs is now 14-2-and-1 with a 1.71-GAA and .933 SPCT.  Runner-up:  Joel Gryzbowski, Battlefords North Stars.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Tim Gould, Notre Dame Hounds
2000 D Tim Gould (Riverview NB) stood out at the Showcase with a three point effort on Monday and also with a dominating physical game, including being the only player to drop the mitts during the two day event.  He then finished off the week with four points in four games played, including a goal and an assist on Sunday in Humboldt.  Gould has 12-goals and 17-assists in 38-games on the year.  Runner-up:  Clayton Eisler, Melville.

MYSASK 411 SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Jared Hamm, Notre Dame Hounds
1999 F Jared Hamm (Warman SK) represented the Hounds at the Showcase and had moments of excellent play and then carried it over into the regular season by registering two points in each of his last three games played this weekend.  That included a goal and an assist Saturday night in La Ronge and another goal and an assist on Sunday in Humboldt.  He has 9-goals and 26-assists in 37-games played.  Runner-up:  Curtis Wiebe, Notre Dame.
