CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Nate Hooper, Flin Flon Bombers
1998 F Nate Hooper (Winnipeg MB) is closing in on the league leading scorer, Justin Ball, after he registered a 2-goal, 5-assist weekend that saw the Bombers sweep the Battlefords North Stars and stretch their winning streak to nine games.  Hooper scored the tying goal late in the third period and then notched the overtime winner as well on Saturday as the Bombers came back from 5-2 down in the final period. It was part of a four point effort for Hooper on the evening. On Friday, he had 3-assists in captaining the Bombers to victory.  Overall, he’s six points out of the league lead with 22-goals and 49-assists in 44-games. Runner-up: Owen Guenter, Humboldt.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK: Josh Patrician, Humboldt Broncos
1998 D Josh Patrician (Calgary AB) helped spark the Broncos to three straight wins last week as they took over top spot in the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division.  Patrician scored the opening goal of the game against La Ronge on Wednesday and then picked up three assists against Notre Dame on Friday, including a helper on the tying goal in the third and the winner in overtime.  For the season, Patrician has 6-goals and 27-assists in 47-games played. Runner-up: Dylan Thackeray, La Ronge.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Grant Boldt, Estevan Bruins
2000 G Grant Boldt (Detroit Lakes MN) backstoped the Bruins to two more victories this past week, registering a 0.96-GAA and .966-SPCT in back to back wins against tough teams Melfort and Nipawin.  On Friday, Boldt turned away 29-of-30 against the Mustangs and he was up to the task one night later with 28-saves in a shootout win over Nipawin, outdueling Declan Hobbs. Overall, Boldt is 13-and-11 with a 2.52-GAA and .912-SPCT.  Since late November, he’s been playing at a 2.32, .919 clip. Runner-up: Rayce Ramsay, Humboldt.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Cole Golden, Notre Dame Hounds
1999 F Cole Golden (Phoenix AZ) had his best week as a Junior ‘A’ player, contributing three assists in a 6-2 win over Weyburn on Tuesday and then scoring twice in a 4-3 overtime loss to Humboldt on Friday.  That ups Golden’s season totals to 3-goals and 9-assists in 31-games on the year. Runner-up: Cole Stevenson, Notre Dame.
