PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (March 25)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Brayden Camrud, Humboldt Broncos
1998 F Brayden Camrud (Saskatoon SK) ripped 4-goals and 6-assists in 4-games played this past week and he leads all SJHL players with 12-points in 6-games during the playoffs as he gets set to lead his team into game seven at Estevan on Tuesday.  Camrud enjoyed a 5-point game last Tuesday as the Broncos took a 3-1 series lead and also had 3-points last Monday in what was also a Humboldt win. He has points in five of the six games in the series. Runner-up: Nate Hooper, Flin Flon.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Jake Heerspink, Estevan Bruins
1998 D Jake Heerspink (Regina SK) contributed at both ends of the rink this past week as the Bruin captain led the Bruins back from a 3-1 series deficit to force game seven tomorrow night.  Heerspink scored the tying goal on Friday night that sent the contest to overtime and the assisted on the second goal of the game early in the first period on Sunday. Heerspink has 3-goals and 1-assists in 6-games during the series, two of his goals have come on the powerplay.   Runner-up: Jake Hobson, Melfort.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Patrick Pugliese, Nipawin Hawks
1999 G Patrick Pugliese (Pasadena CA USA) has, almost singlehandedly, led the Nipawin Hawks back from a 3-1 series deficit in their series with Yorkton as the scene shifts to The Cage on Tuesday for game seven.  Pugliese was installed in the first period of game four and went on to stop 29-of-30 in two and a half periods of work. He blocked 23-of-24 on Friday in a 4-1 win and then made 40-saves on Sunday to win 3-1, on the road.  He’s got a .968 SPCT and a 1.06-GAA in the postseason. Runner-up: Gabriel Waked, Flin Flon.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Jaxsen Wiebe, Nipawin Hawks
2002 F Jaxsen Wiebe (Moose Jaw SK) has emerged as a first line player in Nipawin’s series with Yorkton, playing alongside Michael Makarenko and Jake Tremblay.  Wiebe has points in five of the six games in the series and that includes 2-goals and 3-assists in 4-games last week. Wiebe picked up a goal and an assist on Tuesday and managed single points in each of the other three games.  Runner-up: Ryan Ouellette, Yorkton.
