SGEU MVP of the Week: Zac Sommers, Melfort Mustangs

The Melfort Mustangs have been red hot as of late winning 5 of their last 6 and getting points in their last 6 games. A big reason for their 3 point weekend against the Flin Flon Bombers was the play of forward Zac Sommers. In both games this weekend Sommers played a big part in the Mustangs offence, finding the back of the net 4 times and adding 2 assists. The 18-year-old has already doubled his stats from his rookie season as he sits with 14 goals and 13 assists this year, ranking 10th in SJHL scoring.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Caleb Allen, Yorkton Terriers

The Yorkton Terriers went 2-1 this weekend and a big reason for that was the play of starting goaltender Caleb Allen. The rookie goaltender was outstanding in both of his starts against the Kindersley Klippers this week, helping secure a pair of overtime wins for the Terriers on home ice. Allen is now 9-9 on the season with a 3.63 GAA and a .901 SV%. This is Allen’s 2nd time winning Sasktel Goalie of the Week award this season.
