SGEU MVP of the Week: Avery Johnson, Kindersley Klippers

The dynamic New Brunswicker had a massive weekend in the pair of wins against the Warman Wolverines, and was key in the 15-goal two-game explosion of offence for the Klipshow. Typically known as a power play ace, Johnson showed he is more than that, as only one of his six points this weekend came with the man advantage.

Week Stats: 2 GP – 3 G, 3 A – 6 PTS, hat trick @ Warman

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Josh Knittig, Battlefords North Stars

After a bit of a slower start to the year, the veteran has really picked it up since mid-October. Knittig, with captain Anthony Campbell and talented, experienced newcomer Alessio Nardelli, has formed an extremely dangerous top line for Battlefords, one of the best in the league right now.

Week Stats: 3 GP – 2 G, 5 A – 7 PTS, GWG vs Yorkton

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Boston Harkness, Melville Millionaires

It was more about quality than quantity offensively for Mils’ captain Harkness as he busted in alone in overtime in Weyburn Friday to end the dramatic Bunge Division showdown. His big minutes have been as steady as always in his own end, while he has added the dynamic offence many saw when he was in U18.

Week Stats: 2 GP – 1 G, 0 A – 1 PT, OT winner @ Weyburn

SaskTel Goalie of the Week: Brett O’Halloran, Kindersley Klippers

Sure, the Klippers scored 15 on the Warman Wolverines this past weekend, but plenty of rubber also went the other way, and the second-year goaltender was sharp as a tack when a big save was needed. It was a slow start to the year for the Calgary native, but he’s hot now.

Week Stats: 2 GP – 2-0-0-0, 1.77 GAA, .961 SV%, 70 saves

SaskMilk Rookie of the Week: Alexandro Montoya, Yorkton Terriers

Even with talented veteran Callum Creig around, Yorkton head coach Emery Olauson has consistently shown that he will go with the hotter hand, and that was Montoya this week. The rookie from Montreal won in La Ronge and in Battlefords to bounce back the right way from his previous outing, a tough one at home to Flin Flon in late October.

Week Stats: 2 GP – 2-0-0-0, 2.00 GAA, .939 SV%, 62 saves

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Mason Karakochuk, Nipawin Hawks (Saskatoon, SK)

The Hawks only played once this past week, but it was a wild one on Tuesday, and Karakochuk was front and centre. The talented Toon towner started the year red hot before cooling off lately, so the Nipawin faithful will be hoping this is a sign of things to come.

Week Stats: 1GP – 1 G, 3 A – 4 PTS, A on GWG vs Battlefords
