SGEU MVP of the Week: Ewan Rennie, Estevan Bruins

It can easily be argued that Rennie is the league’s hottest player in October so far. With three games in four days this past week, the veteran took advantage, notching his first career SJHL hat trick in Saturday’s win against Flin Flon and earning his fourth straight multi-point game. He leads the league in points (21) and points per game (1.75) and is currently the spearhead of a tough-to-stop Estevan offence.

Weekly Stats: 3 GP – 6G, 2A – 8 PTS

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Avery Johnson, Kindersley Klippers

One of the league’s biggest power-play weapons, Johnson continued that trend this past week with two more markers on the man advantage during Saturday’s rout of the Melville Millionaires. The New Brunswicker is currently on a five-game point streak, collecting nine points over that span. After starting the year with one goal in his first six games, he now has five in his last five contests.

Weekly Stats: 4 GP – 4G, 3A – 7 PTS

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Russ Demo, Kindersley Klippers

The Klippers jumped into the national rankings this week for the first time this season. Through 11 games, they have just one regulation loss — and Demo is a huge reason why. His massive week, including a five-point night Saturday versus Melville, pushed him to within eight points of his career high already — in 42 fewer games. Demo now sits third among SJHL defencemen in points.

Weekly Stats: 4 GP – 1G, 7A – 8 PTS

SaskTel Goalie of the Week: Preston Patenaude, Weyburn Red Wings

The Wings entered the year wondering who would replace superstar Angelo Zol in the crease, but with Patenaude and his fellow 1A/1B netminder Ty Matonovich, they’ve found a resounding answer. Patenaude made 35-plus saves in both of his wins, highlighted by a brilliant performance Friday in Weyburn’s home victory over Flin Flon. The Wings now sit four points clear atop the standings — a position that wouldn’t be possible without stellar goaltending.

Weekly Stats: 2-0-0-0, 67 saves, 1.92 GAA, .944 SV%

SaskMilk Rookie of the Week: Brady Carr, Estevan Bruins

The battle for the crease in Estevan between rookie Brady Carr and veteran Dylan Adams has been fascinating — a great problem for Coach Drew Kocur to have. Carr strengthened his case Friday with an excellent performance in a big win over the then red-hot Nipawin Hawks. Fun fact: Carr hails from the tiny northwest Saskatchewan hamlet of Vawn!

Weekly Stats: 1-0-0-0, 28 saves, 1.00 GAA, .966 SV%

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Thomas Ries, Yorkton Terriers (Humboldt, Sask.)

Tommy Ries does a bit of everything for the Terriers and continued his strong play this past week with four points — plus countless shot blocks — in wins over Melfort and Flin Flon. He brings speed, strength, and a professional, no-nonsense approach to leadership that fuels the Terriers’ machine.

Weekly Stats: 3 GP – 1G, 3A – 4 PTS
