PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Oct 14)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Daylon Mannon, La Ronge Ice Wolves
1999 F Daylon Mannon (Fresno CA USA) went on a tear during La Ronge’s four game southern road trip this past week, firing 3-goals and 6-assists as he moved into the SJHL scoring lead.  Mannon, who played under coach Kevin Kaminski in his hometown a couple of seasons ago and was expected to have a big year in what will be his only SJHL campaign, picked up 2-goals and 1-assist in a shutout win over Notre Dame on Tuesday.  He scored on Wednesday in another shutout win, this one over Weyburn. He set up two against Estevan and then finished off the week with three assists on three goals at Humboldt. With 9-goals and 15-assists in 14-games overall, Mannon has moved into the league lead by one point over Alec Malo of Flin Flon.  Runner-up: Luke Spadafora, Melville.

MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Chase Felgueiras, Humboldt Broncos
2000 D Chase Felgueiras (Calgary AB) sparked the Broncos by scoring a goal and three assists in three games played over the course of back to back to back nights.  Felgueiras cooled off the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Saturday with a goal and two assists and he also picked up a helper the previous night against Nipawin and was part of the blueline that helped rally and beat Flin Flon in a come from behind win on Thursday.  For the season, Felgueiras has 1-goal and 4-assists in 9-games played. Runner-up: Tyson Janzen, Yorkton.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Liam McGarva, La Ronge Ice Wolves
2000 G Liam McGarva (Fort Saskatchewan AB) backstopped the Ice Wolves to three straight wins on their southern road trip this past week and he kicked things off with back to back shutouts as the Wolves blanked the Notre Dame Hounds with 22-saves on Tuesday and then he did the same thing one night later in Estevan with a 29-save performance.  Estevan touched him up for four, but he was still able to pick up the victory on Friday with 29-stops. For the season, McGarva is 5-and-3 with a 2.51-GAA and .926-SPCT to go with his two shutouts. Runner-up: Ross Hawryluk, Nipawin.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Kyle Ford, La Ronge Ice Wolves
2000 F Kyle Ford (Calgary AB) enters play this week on a five game goal scoring streak and that includes a four game stretch last week in which he scored 5-goals and 1-assist in 4-games on the road that saw the Ice Wolves pick up three straight wins.  Ford got the week going with single goals at Notre Dame and Weyburn and then followed that up with a goal and an assist in Estevan on the weekend before finishing with two markers in a loss to Humboldt. Ford is up to 10-goals and 6-assists in 14-games in his first Junior ‘A’ season after suiting up last year in Fernie (KIJHL).  Runner-up: Brett LeGrandeur, Yorkton.
