PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Oct 23)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Josh Fletcher, Kindersley Klippers
1998 F Josh Fletcher (Calgary AB) produced three goals and one assist in two games played last week, helping the Klippers earn three of a possible four points.  Fletcher had his team’s only goal on Wednesday in an overtime loss to Humboldt.  Saturday, he scored two and setup another in a 3-2 decision over Melfort.  He has 4-goals and 5-assists in 12-games played overall.  Runner-up:  Chantz Petruic, Yorkton.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Carter Doerksen, Nipawin Hawks
1997 D Carter Doerksen (Swift Current SK) notched two goals and two assists in four games played last week to lead all blueliners in scoring and finished in a tie for the league lead overall during the seven day period.  Doerksen had three of those points on Tuesday, in a win over Yorkton, by scoring twice and setting up another.  He also had an assist in Weyburn on Saturday.  Overall, Doerksen has scored 2-goals and 6-assists in 13-games.  Runner-up:  Levi Kleiboer, Battlefords.

SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Jacob Wassermann, Humboldt Broncos
2000 G Jacob Wassermann (Humboldt SK) appeared in three games for the hometown Broncos last week, going 2-and-1 with a 1.92-GAA and .921-SPCT.  He stopped 21-of-22 in an overtime against Kindersley on Wednesday.  He closed the door with 23-saves on 25-shots in Melville on Friday before blocking 26-of-29 against the Mils one night later.  He’s 6-and-3 with a 2.42-GAA and .919-SPCT so far this season.  Runner-up:  Justen Close, Kindersley.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Montana Streit, Melville Millionaires
1998 F Montana Streit (Rochester MN) contributed to the Millionaires’ offense in each of the three games played last week, picking up an assist at Notre Dame on Tuesday, an additional assist versus Humboldt on Friday, and then scoring the game winning goal against the Broncos on Saturday.  Streit, who was just added to the team in the last couple of weeks, has 2-goals and 2-assists in 5-games on the year.  Runner-up:  Caleb Moretz, Flin Flon.
