IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Josh McDougall, Nipawin
1998 D Josh McDougall (Prince Albert SK) has been a contender for this award every week this season so far.  Last week, he netted his first goal of the year and picked up five assists to give him 14-points through 8-games on the year. He had a goal and three helpers Friday at Humboldt and then set up two one night later, on home ice, against the Broncos.  Runner-up:  Mike Eskra, Weyburn.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Brenden Newton, Flin Flon Bombers
1997 G Brenden Newton (Medicine Hat AB) wins the award for the second straight week as he backstopped the Bombers to earning three points of a possible four on the weekend against Kindersley.  Newton turned away 74 of 76 shots for a 0.96 GAA.  Newton has a miniscule 1.14-GAA in his last six games and has played every minute of Flin Flon’s nine games this year.  Runner-up:  Arik Weersink, Weyburn.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Tim Gould, Notre Dame Hounds
2000 D Tim Gould (Moncton NB) picked up an assist in a loss to Weyburn last Tuesday and then set up two more to help his team beat Estevan on Wednesday.  He’s up to a goal and five assists in eight games on the year, providing valuable minutes on the back end despite still being a midget aged player.  Runner-up:  Jacob Wasserman, Humboldt.
