SGEU MVP of the Week: Steven Kesslering, Battlefords North Stars

The Battlefords North Stars continue to roll to start the 2022/2023 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League regular season and a big reason why is Steven Kesslering. The Viceroy, Saskatchewan product netted 4 goals and 1 assist this past week, including a hat-trick against the Notre Dame Hounds on September 21st.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Caleb Allen, Yorkton Terriers

Another team who remains undefeated (at the time of this article) is the Yorkton Terriers and goaltender Caleb Allen has been a brick wall in between the pipes to start this year. In two games this week, the rookie goalie allowed just one goal, recorded his first shutout of the campaign, and was even credited for an empty net goal Sunday evening in the Terriers 3-0 win over the Nipawin Hawks.

Direct West Rookie of the Week: Francois-Xavier Bedard, Nipawin Hawks

Despite their 2-3 record to start the year, the Nipawin Hawks have been flying to start the 22/23 SJHL regular season. One player who has made an impact to start the campaign has been Francois-Xavier Bedard. Bedard has been elevated into the top 6 of the Nipawin Hawks and this past week he had a goal and two assists in 3 games played.

Defenceman of the Week: Wilson Steele, Battlefords North Stars

There were definitely a number of great performances this week on the blue line, but Wilson Steele claims the title for Defenceman of the Week. Steele has been an anchor on the back end for the Stars to start the season and had three assists in two games this past week for the undefeated Stars.
