SGEU MVP of the Week: Jaron Desnoyers, Yorkton Terriers

The Yorkton Terriers are one of four teams in the SJHL that are still undefeated, and Desnoyers, the club’s newly minted-captain, is a huge reason why. He has goals in all four games played and made waves by opening the campaign with a four-goal, five-point night at the home opener.
Weekly Stats: 4GP, 7G-3A, 10 PTS

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Ryan Roethke, Melville Millionaires

It is still early, but Melville’s Ryan Roethke has been a more clinical finisher in the SJHL than anyone else. Playing on the right side of Caden Drury on the Mils’ top line has been a perfect fit, and with three multi-goal games out of four Melville victories, it is clear that the Minnesotan’s transition to the league is going very well. The Mils have not only won all their games but have done so in style, and Roethke is a big reason for it.
Weekly Stats: 4GP, 7G-4A, 11 PTS

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Nicholas Andrusiak, Melfort Mustangs

If the hope was that Andrusiak could fill some of the shoes of departed Canterra Seeds Cup MVP Chase Friedt-Mohr on the Mustangs’ back end, then certainly, so far, so good. Also a Western Hockey League-experienced defender, Andrusiak notched the overtime winner in Melforts’ season-opening victory in La Ronge and had points in all but one of the defending champs’ games.
Weekly Stats: 4GP, 2G-4A, 6 PTS

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Kristian Coombs, Melfort Mustangs

Much like with Andrusiak, the question of whether Coombs could fill big skates – that of the departed No. 1 netminder James Venne – was answered immediately this week. Armed with the experience of last year’s Centennial Cup run, the 2005-born Coombs is out to the early lead among SJHL starters in every category and has given up a minuscule five goals in a league-leading 182 minutes played.
Weekly Stats: 3-0-0-0, 1.65 GAA, .946 SV%, 88 saves

IKS Media Rookie of the Week: Brett O’Halloran, Kindersley Klippers

The Klippers made no bones about their hope that this would be Cody Jaman’s year in net, but an injury has put that on hold, and the test has fallen to 2006-born rookie Brett O’Halloran to carry that load. So far, so good, and for a young man to step in and win his first three starts in a new league is more than impressive.
Weekly Stats: 3-1-0-0, 2.77 GAA, .908 SV%, 108 saves

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Caden Drury, Melville Millionaires (from Carrot River, Sask)

There has hardly been a shift so far this year for Drury that he has not dominated in all three zones, and among the top-line centremen in the league, he has to be considered one of, if not the best. To go with a league-leading amount of points, he has averaged close to 20 minutes a night and has been a plus player every game.
Weekly Stats: 4GP, 4G-8A, 12 PTS
