SGEU MVP of the Week:  Ethan Zielke, Humboldt Broncos

It has been an extremely impressive start to the season for the Humboldt Broncos as they sit at 8-0-0-0 going into a week off for the club. A big reason why the team remains undefeated is the play of their Captain, Ethan Zielke. In a jam packed week for the Broncos which saw them take to the ice 5 times, the Lindenwood University commit registered 4 goals and 7 assists helping Humboldt remain undefeated. Zielke also goes into this week at the top of league scoring with 14 points.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Josh Kotai, Battlefords North Stars

The other undefeated club in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is the Battleford North Stars and they have been getting superb goaltending from 19-year-old Josh Kotai. The Abbotsford, B.C product has been cool, calm, and collected in between the pipes for his new club this season and it showed in his two starts this week. Monday afternoon he shutout the Weyburn Red Wings 8-0, and then followed it up with an impressive 2-0 win over the Melfort Mustangs. Kotai now owns a 0.94 GAA and a .970 SV% in 6 games this season.

Direct West Rookie of the Week: Riley Ashe, Melfort Mustangs

One of the new faces of the Melfort Mustangs is making a significant impact early on this SJHL season. Through 8 games this season, 2006 born forward Riley Ashe already has 3 goals and 2 assists for the Mustangs, which included a 2 goal night against the Notre Dame Hounds Saturday evening. With his 3 point night Saturday, Ashe is now tied for 6th in SJHL Rookie scoring.

Defenceman of the Week: Reece Richmond, Flin Flon Bombers

Despite their overtime loss Sunday night to the Humboldt Broncos, the Flin Flon Bombers are off to a good start in the 22/23 season boasting a 4-1-1-1 record. Playing a large part in their great start has been the play of defenceman Reece Richmond. In 4 games this past week, the 20-year-old had a goal and 4 assists, and is well on his way to passing his point total from last year of 31.
