The round robin is halfway over for the Battlefords North Stars at the 2023 Centennial Cup and Monday night they will battle the host Portage Terriers.
Battlefords won their first game of the tournament 4-1 over the Kam River Fighting Walleye from the SIJHL, before dropping a 3-1 decision to the Collingwood Blues in Game 2 on Saturday.
As a result, the Stars own a 1-1 record in the round robin, making their next two games extremely important if the Stars hope to bring a National Championship back to Saskatchewan.
The Stars’ pool which features Kam River, Collingwood, Portage, and Steinbach is extremely close going into Day 5 of the National Championship, making tonight’s game more and more important.
The top 3 teams in the group will make the playoff round this weekend at the Centennial Cup.
With a win in regulation Monday night, the Stars would move into a tie for first place in Group B as tonight’s game between the Stars and Terriers is the lone game in the group today.
Meanwhile for Portage, a win Monday night would clinch a spot in the playoff round for the hosts.
Puck drop between the Stars and Terriers is at 6:30pm (Saskatchewan time) and the game can be viewed online on Hockey Canada’s website. There will also be live updates throughout the game across the SJHL social media channels.
