REGINA, SK – Weyburn Red Wings defenceman Josh Karman and forward Drew Molde have committed to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology for the 2026-27 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference season.
Karman, 20, played in 155 regular-season Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) contests between 2023 and 2026, split between the Battlefords North Stars and the Red Wings.
He posted 16 goals and 75 points over that time.
The Calgary native featured in 38 playoff games, adding seven points, and was an instrumental two-way presence in Weyburn’s run to the 2025 Canterra Seeds Cup Final.
The North Stars acquired Karman in the 2023 off-season from the Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), and then was dealt to the Red Wings ahead of the 2024-25 campaign as part of a previous trade between the teams.
Altogether, he featured in 242 junior games between the two leagues.
Molde, 20, scored 31 goals and added 55 points in 138 SJHL regular-season games between 2022 and 2026, all for the Red Wings.
He added nine points in 33 postseason contests and, like Karman, was critical to the Wings’ appearance in the 2025 SJHL final.
Molde scored a goal and played a key leadership role as part of Team SJHL’s Gold Medal-winning team at the 2026 Viking Cup, in which they defeated SAIT in the championship final.
A native of Bonnyville, AB, Molde joined the Wings out of Prairie Hockey Academy in the CSSHL in the 2023-24 season.
Three SJHLers in total have committed to SAIT this off-season, while 12 alumni featured for their ACAC championship-winning team this past year.
