REGINA, SK – Weyburn Red Wings forward Will Munro has committed to Ontario Tech University of USports for the 2026-27 Ontario University Athletics campaign.
Munro, 21, scored 13 goals and 33 points in 33 regular-season games for the Wings this past year after he was acquired from the Melfort Mustangs in late November, 2025.
He added eight points in 13 postseason contests for Weyburn.
The native of Swan River, MB, played in 79 regular-season Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) games split between the Wings and Mustangs, posting 62 points between 2024 and 2026.
He added 17 points in 27 SJHL playoff games and was part of Melfort’s 2025 Canterra Seeds Cup championship team.
A 6-foot-2, 201-pound winger, Munro notched two points during the Mustangs’ run to the 2025 Centennial Cup Final.
Originally an 11th-round pick by the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League, he played in 81 games for the Okanagan-based club.
Ontario Tech University is based in Oshawa, ONT, 60 kilometres east of Toronto.
SJHL alums Alex Papaspyropoulos (Estevan) and Braiden Koran (Humboldt) featured for the Ridgebacks this past year, while fellow Saskatchewan leaguers Wesley Golden (Melville) and Brady Seabrook (Nipawin, Battlefords) committed earlier this off-season.
