REGINA, SK – Weyburn Red Wings forward Josh Sale has committed to the University of Alberta at Augustana for the 2026-27 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference campaign.
Sale, 20, played in 109 regular-season Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) games between 2024 and 2026, split between the Humboldt Broncos and Weyburn Red Wings.
He scored 36 goals and 84 points over that span.
The speedy winger added 23 points in 30 SJHL playoff games and was an important part of the Red Wings’ run to the 2025 Canterra Seeds Cup final.
Sale joined the Broncos out of the British Columbia Hockey League’s Blackfalds Bulldogs ahead of the 2024-25 season. He played in 35 games – in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and the BCHL – for Blackfalds, where he scored seven points.
The Prince George, BC native will be familiar with the surroundings at Augustana after he scored two goals and four points as part of Team SJHL’s Gold Medal-winning performance at the 2026 Viking Cup, hosted by the school in Camrose, AB, last season.
His individual rush set up Ethan Andrews’ eventual game-winning goal in overtime in the final game vs. SAIT.
Sale is the fourth SJHLer to commit to Augustana this off-season so far, joining Carter Anderson (Nipawin), Ethan Andrews (Estevan), and Graham Brown (La Ronge).
