Recapping Tuesday’s Action

The Weyburn Red Wings ran their winning streak to seven Tuesday night, as they knocked off the Sherwood Division and league-leading Melfort Mustangs 7-1.

Cole Woodliffe scored twice for the Wings (9-2-1-0) while Ben Hiltz added a goal and two assists.  Cade Kowalski (1g-1a), Tyran Brown, Jessie Young and Calder Newson rounded out the scoring.  Carter Phair made 32/33 saves and the Wings struck five times in the second period, and three times on the powerplay.

Justin Ball provided the lone goal for the Mustangs (10-3-2-1).  Melfort has now dropped six of their last eight (2-3-2-1) after an 8-0-0 start.

Matthieu Gomercic (2g-1a) and Evan Thomas (1g-2a) each had three point nights as the Humboldt Broncos out-scored the Kindersley Klippers 7-4.  The win lifts the Broncos (9-6-1-0) into a narrow lead in the Olympic Buildings Division.

Logan Hunter (1g-1a), Derek Patter (1g-1a), Brayden Camrud and Logan Boulet also scored, and captain Logan Schatz added two assists, giving him 17-points through 16-games.  Jacob Wassermann was in goal, making 27/31 saves.

Eddie May and Tyler Traptow each had a goal and an assist for the Klippers (7-5-2-0) while Austin Nault and Jordan Funk rounded out the scoring.
