The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce graduating Defenceman Alex Rondeau has committed to the Laurentian Voyageurs for the 2020-21 season!

Rondeau, the Drummondville, Quebec native, spent the last two seasons in Melfort and was named the Sher-Wood Division Defenceman of the year in 2019-20. He played 128 total games as a Mustang, compiling 20 goals, 47 assists for 67 points.

“Alex has been a great member of our community and team the past two seasons. His hard work and dedication on and off the ice made him a big piece of our team” Mustang Head Coach and GM Trevor Blevins said. “We would like to wish Alex all the best with Laurentian and thank him for his time as a Mustang.”

Located in Sudbury, Ontario, The Laurentian Voyageurs are a U Sports Men’s Hockey Program that compete in the OUA conference. Last season they finished with a 5-21-1-1 record.

“I cannot thank the community of Melfort, my teammates and billets enough for the support over the last two years. I’d also like to thank my coaches for giving me the opportunity to play in the SJHL.” Rondeau said. “I am looking forward to pursuing my hockey career and academics with Laurentian University. It will be a perfect mix for my development as a hockey player and a student. I am really excited to be a part of something special.”
