SJHL Power Rankings – Week 15 (Jan. 13, 2026)
1. Flin Flon Bombers (Last week 1)
Hard to imagine spirits being higher up in Flin Flon than they are right now. The Bombers are on a seven-game win streak, with two wins over La Ronge last week, and the most significant move from the trade deadline was the acquisition of elite goaltender Charlie Tritt, Top 6 forward Connor Miller, and top pair defender Ryder Knutson from the Humboldt Broncos. As usual, Mike Reagan is more than all-in this year, and especially with Tritt in the net, they should feel as much the favourite as anybody to make a serious run at the Canterra Seeds Cup.
2. Battlefords North Stars (Last week 3)
If the Bombers are the 1A hottest team in the league, the North Stars are 1B. Connor Logan’s men have won six in a row, five of which were come-from-behind, and are all the way up in second place in the league at the time of this writing. Friday’s 3-2 shootout win at home over Weyburn was historic, as the 21-round skills competition was the longest in SJHL history. They can’t seem to put a foot wrong right now and have a very manageable schedule coming up as well.
3. Estevan Bruins (Last week 4)
The Bruins hardly needed to break a sweat this past weekend in two big wins over Warman, scoring 16 goals and allowing only three, and have now scored the second-most goals in the league behind Flin Flon. Ewan Rennie’s eight points in two games erased a rare three-game stretch in which he was held to only a single point, while Cash Olson continues to be a serious contender for rookie of the year. Times are good in The Energy City!
4. Nipawin Hawks (Last week 5)
True, the Hawks had to grind out two hard-fought wins against the recently rebuilt Humboldt Broncos this past week, but in typical ’25-’26 Nipawin fashion, they found a way anyway. Injury and sickness continue to frustrate the staff and front office. Still, the players have done well to get on with it, greatly aided by the return of elite right winger Braeden Jockims, flying on a premium line with Ashton Tait and Konnor Watson.
5. Weyburn Red Wings (Last week 4)
Indeed, the Wings were frustrated with their two defeats in Battlefords this past week. Still, the addition of defenceman Rylan Pearce at the deadline, on top of the acquisition of Joey Rocha from the WHL a couple of weeks ago, should bolster their spirits. The beginning of 2026 has been tough for the Wings, but the road ahead in January is relatively manageable, so it is fair to expect Weyburn to climb again very soon.
6. Yorkton Terriers (Last week 6)
The Terriers have been one of the league’s quieter teams in 2026 thus far, but a thunderous win over Melfort on Friday should raise spirits. General Manager Emery Olauson essentially remade their defence-corps depth at the trade deadline, receiving Tyler Palin back from the NAHL, and acquiring Nathan Gray from the Swift Current Broncos and Gavin Bartha from the Swan Valley Stampeders. Their next three games are challenging, but they now possess a pretty enviable roster given the impressive development of certain players and the additions of others.
7. Kindersley Klippers (Last week 8)
It certainly has been a tough go lately for the Klippers, but Friday’s victory over Melville was much-needed. General Manager Ryan Gibson feels like they upgraded their D-corps at the deadline, bringing in veterans Bryson Carlyle from Weyburn and Owen Turner from La Ronge, and they will need them with a challenging seven-game road stint coming up.
8. Melville Millionaires (Last week 9)
The Mils have had some wild ups and downs this season, and continue the trend of keeping pucks out proficiently while struggling to score goals themselves. A hard-fought split in Kindersley last week was fair enough, and the acquisition of 6-foot-4 defender Maddox Shindle from Virden in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League along with Ice Wolves Captain Zane Normand at the deadline both feel like great fits. Five of seven games remaining in January are at home, so the Mils need to make some hay as they continue to try to battle for the final playoff spots.
9. Humboldt Bronos (Last week 7)
Two tough losses to the much more experienced Nipawin Hawks should actually be encouraging to the Broncos, who dealt away their five most experienced pieces at and around the trade deadline. Brayden Klimosko and company did a masterful job restocking the cupboard slowly over the course of the year, and are in good hands hitching their wagon to 18-year-old Brady Holtvogt in net the rest of the way (the best goaltender at the recently concluded 2026 Viking Cup). Yes, this is the youngest Broncos team anyone’s seen since 2019-20, but they are still going to be worth the price of admission!
10. Melfort Mustangs (Last week 10)
These power rankings are from the league, so they need to be diplomatic, but the best way we can put this is that it’s time for the still-very-veteran-laden Melfort Mustangs as a group to take a good, long, hard look in the mirror. Their two results this past week were uncharacteristic for any team under Trevor Blevins’ watch, and they are at a crossroads in the season that will determine if they are serious about trying to make the playoffs or if the campaign is lost. They are nine points back of the post-season line with 24 games remaining, so still some time, but take the tough love and don’t shoot the messenger.
11. Warman Wolverines (Last week 11)
There is not a lot to say about their performances in Estevan this past week, other than they need to throw it out and go again. Brett Pilkington has continued to make this team younger as the season progressed and has stayed true to his belief that he is building something special for the future. The addition of local Warman-product Trey Markus from Melfort is a good example of that. Four of six remaining games in January are at home, though the next three are against red-hot teams. However, for most of this year, this group has not quit in games.
12. La Ronge Ice Wolves (Last week 12)
The young Ice Wolves gave the reinforced Flin Flon Bombers a real good challenge at home on Friday, and the truth remains: any team under Kevin Kaminski, no matter how young, will fight to the end. Like Warman, they are trying to build something from youth for the future. Still, they kept elite veteran goaltender Graham Brown at the deadline, and everyone knows he’s more than capable of stealing games for the Wolves regularly.
