SJHL Power Rankings – Week 3 (Oct. 7, 2025)
1. Flin Flon Bombers (Last week 1)
The Bombers finished their last home stand of October with a pair against the Warman Wolverines that were harder than some thought they would be, but as is par for the course so far this year, Mike Reagan’s men found a way both nights. Two shootout wins out of six games already so far this year for Flin Flon…Yorkton led the league in the regular season last year with three (in 56 games).
2. Weyburn Red Wings (Last week 3)
Looks like last year’s run to the final did even more for this corps than anyone thought. An epic, action-packed weekend split with Melville reflects what should be a terrific Bunge Division rivalry all year long.
3. Melfort Mustangs (Last week 4)
The offence might be off to a slow start for the two-time defending champs, but in front of reigning SGEU MVP of the Week Kason Kobelka, this team knows how to win. Three of their six games have gone to overtime so far; the other three have been decided by two goals or less. Two wins this past weekend over the Battlefords North Stars will put a smile on Trevor Blevins’ face.
4. Nipawin Hawks (Last week 6)
A pair of gritty wins this past week have people believing this Hawks team can win any which way, even though they were expected to be known for high-octane offence. This team has not given up more than three goals in any game so far this year, and with the depth and experience they possess, it could be a really fun season all year at the Cage.
5. Humboldt Broncos (Last week 2)
Everyone has ups and downs over the course of a season, but a three-game skid for a team with the expectations of the Broncos certainly stands out. A rare Friday night loss at the EPA was followed by a performance the next night in Yorkton that Coach Brayden Klimosko and staff are sure to view as not good enough. The talent is there; the reinforcements have arrived. It’s just up to this squad to come together. Too early to worry.
6. Yorkton Terriers (Last week 9)
The Terriers responded to three losses in a row to start the year in the right way, with two wins and two solid performances against the loaded Humboldt Broncos this past weekend. Callum Creig looks like a legitimate, top-tier starter in the league, and with a streak of four out of five at the Westland Arena, watch out for Emery Olauson’s men the next couple of weeks.
7. Kindersley Klippers (Last week 5)
The Klippers have not played for over a week, which is the primary reason they have been passed over in these rankings. Their big win last Monday at home to Humboldt probably had them wanting another game as soon as possible. Still, a stint of six out of seven games at home over September and October means they have an opportunity to make some early hay.
8. Melville Millionaires (Last week 8)
The home-and-home weekend split with Weyburn saw Doug Johnson’s men score 11 goals over the two games, and given that both teams can skate, hit, and score, it should be an entertaining match-up all season long. Kale Margolis is one of the significant impacts so far this season, and captain Boston Harkness is making an early bid for Defenceman of the Year.
9. Battlefords North Stars (Last week 7)
Sure, the Stars lost both games to Melfort this past weekend, but given the relative youth and inexperience of this Battlefords group, for them to grind and compete so hard and so well against the defending champs must have Coach Connor Logan and crew feeling good about themselves. It looks like Kaeden Serpa has the net right now, but the intriguing young 2008-born goaltender Steele Bass, fresh from the Prince Albert Raiders, should be a step toward solidifying the position.
10. Estevan Bruins (Last week 11)
A three-games-in-three-days trip to the north is never easy, and while Rylan Williams and Ewan Rennie keep piling up the points, it is still up to this group as a whole to prove to their fan base that they can win regularly. They salvaged a win from the road trip on the last day with Williams’ overtime winner in La Ronge, and in a three-headed monster of Dylan Adams, Nathan Kam, and Brady Carr, they surely have a solid goaltending situation.
11. La Ronge Ice Wolves (Last week 12)
La Ronge was finally rewarded for all their good, gritty performances with their first win of the year via a beautiful shot from William Knox in overtime Saturday. Head coach/GM Kevin Kaminski is working hard to restock the shelves of the Wolves, but it was just good to see the JRMCC crowd get its first taste of victory this weekend.
12. Warman Wolverines (Last week 10)
Brett Pilkington’s men deserved more than the single point they got from their weekend trip to the Whitney Forum, as positive performances abounded. Taye Timmerman and Griffin Wright are as good a young goaltending tandem as there is in the league, and Pherson Loehndorf is a star in the making on the back end. If this team could find a few more timely goals, its record could improve quickly.
