SaskPower Rankings: Week 4 – Oct. 14, 2025

SJHL Power Rankings – Week 4 (Oct. 14, 2025)

1. Weyburn Red Wings (Last week 2)

The Wings picked up wins over Yorkton and Melfort this past week, and jumped from not-ranked to 19th in the national rankings as well. Mapes’ men have won three in a row, lost only twice all year so far, and can win any which way. Has anyone in the league taken bigger steps forward from last year than Lucas Schmid and Drew Molde?

2. Nipawin Hawks (Last week 4)

Nipawin is the hottest team in the league with five wins in a row, and has beaten all comers not named Flin Flon in the 2025-26 campaign so far. They had a tough win against La Ronge and an easier win against Warman this past week, and have the best power play in the league by a full five percentage points. Times are good at the Cage for the CJHL’s No. 5-ranked squad. It’s a new hero every night for the Black and Gold.

3. Flin Flon Bombers (Last week 1)

The Bombers’ perfect start to the season is over after tough road losses to Humboldt and Melville this week. Reinforcements are on the way, but October will teach us a lot about this Flin Flon team as they have six consecutive games away from the Whitney Forum ahead.

4. Humboldt Broncos (Last week 5)

Jacob Strizzi keeps scoring, but performances and results have probably been more uneven than a team this talented should. A tight loss in North Battleford sandwiched big wins over the Bombers and North Stars, but Charlie Tritt continues to be an early candidate for SaskTel Goaltender of the Year after his third shutout already.

5. Kindersley Klippers (Last week 7)

After a long time off to start October, the Klippers scraped out three of four points from a hard-working La Ronge Ice Wolves club this past week. The Klips have only lost once in regulation all year, and are doing it without a single player in the Top 24 in league scoring. Rookie Mattias Radke has been a revelation in net at the Inter Pipeline Arena.

6. Melfort Mustangs (Last week 3)

There is no way to hide from the fact that it has been a slower start than the Melfort faithful are used to in recent years. Losses this past week in back-to-back games in Weyburn and Estevan won’t quiet that noise. Still, this group and head coach/GM Trevor Blevins have too much experience to be worried, and roster retooling is well underway. They’ve only played three games at home so far this year, too, and the Palace has been an absolute fortress for the last number of years.

7. Estevan Bruins (Last week 10)

Drew Kocur’s men keep demanding respect from the league with their play. When this talented group, led by Rylan Williams, Ewan Rennie, and Ethan Andrews, plays their game, they have shown they can run with anyone. That was on display in their lone game of the week, a 5-2 victory at home over the Melfort Mustangs, and the time to make hay is now with a seven-game stretch at Affinity Place ahead.

8. Melville Millionaires (Last week 8)

Melville has shown they can dominate anyone, as demonstrated by their solid wins this past week against Flin Flon and Yorkton. However, they can also be beaten, as shown on Saturday when they fell to their rival Terriers. The goaltending situation seems fluid, but Noah Sinagowitz looks to have struck a big-time claim to grab more ice time between the two rookie puck stoppers. Boston Harkness’ season has been as good as anyone’s in the SJHL so far, with six more points at the time of writing than any other defender, and he has been equally good in his own end.

9. Yorkton Terriers (Last week 6)

The inconsistency on both sides of the Highway 10 rivalry in these early days continues to be fascinating to watch. Emery Olauson’s team was brilliant in the last two-week bookend wins over Humboldt and Melville, and even more impressive in the middle wins against Weyburn and the Mils. Gabe Courchesne has been as advertised, and it’s still way too early to be worried. There is plenty of talent on this team, and given their reliance on quality youth, the expectation is that this group will be much better in the second half than the first.

10. Battlefords North Stars (Last week 9)

Perhaps the 10th spot is unfair for Connor Logan’s men, who have been right in all but one of their games this year, a 6-0 beatdown by Humboldt Saturday. Gavin Granger and Linken Fisher have more than fulfilled their ends of the bargain from the back end so far, together leading the club in scoring as defenders, but it’s still a work in progress for the Stars. They have a manageable schedule ahead, however.

11. La Ronge Ice Wolves (Last week 11)

Time and again, Kevin Kaminski has proven that whoever is under his charge in the Wolves’ teal, they will play with a passion and ferocity only rarely matched in the league. Their compete and tenacity, paired with excellent goaltending from Graham Brown and Riley Zezel, have really kept them in games, and their last five games in a row have been by one goal. It’s really not an easy out whenever the Wolves are concerned, despite what their record says.

12. Warman Wolverines (Last week 12)

The team’s only game of the week, a frustrating loss to the Nipawin Hawks, proved that this team likely needs a little roster shake-up. Taye Timmerman and Griffin Wright keep doing an excellent job keeping the Wolverines in games, and Cam Sarna has been a revelation up front, but the bounces just have not gone Warman’s way so far. With the Western All-Star Challenge rosters coming soon, the youth on this team looks to have a good chance of being solidly represented for Team SJHL.
