REGINA, SK. – Ethan Andrews scored twice in the third period and Cash Olson notched the winner in the shootout as the Estevan Bruins rallied to edge their Highway 39 rival, the Weyburn Red Wings, 5-4 in the skills competition Saturday.

Nathan Kam made 44 stops in the victory, while Weyburn rookie Roan Burgess added a pair for the Wings.

Weyburn’s Lucas Schmid and Josh Karman scored two goals 12 seconds apart in the third period to tie the game and send it to overtime.

It was the Red Wings’ first game since Oct. 18.

In Kindersley, Humboldt’s Connor Miller tied the game at two at the 10:44 mark of the third period, and Owen Chapman scored the winner in the shootout to lead the Broncos to a 3-2 win over the Klippers.

It was Humboldt’s sixth win in a row, and Kindersley’s league-leading fourth shootout loss on the season. No team lost that many in the skills competition in all of last season; the Klippers have played only 16 games so far this year, and still sit in second place in the league standings.

Elsewhere in Flin Flon, Landon Alexander notched his first career SJHL game-winner and the Bombers downed the Nipawin Hawks 5-1.

Konnor Watson had Nipawin’s response with his 11th of the year, and sits third among goal scorers in the league.

Preston Baerwald scored 2:19 into overtime and the Melville Millionaires edged the Battlefords North Stars 2-1 at the CN Community Centre.

Steele Bass was terrific in net for the North Stars, making 35 stops in the loss.

Finally, in Melfort, the Mustangs scored four unanswered goals by the 22-minute mark of the contest and held on to defeat the Warman Wolverines 5-3.

Tristin Ziola led the way with two goals and an assist for the defending champions, while Bexson Fox responded with two points for Warman.
