REGINA, SK – Flin Flon’s Ryder Mucha tied the game at three at the 10:39 mark of the third period, and Reid Arberry scored the only goal of the shootout as the Bombers rallied to edge the Warman Wolverines 4-3 in the skills competition Saturday.
Warman’s Kane Kennedy scored a pair for the first multi-goal game of his SJHL career.
Flin Flon improved to 6-0 on the season, and continues to own the only perfect record in the league at the time of writing.
In Melville, it was the Weyburn Red Wings who earned the weekend split, as they used two power play goals just over a minute apart mid-way through the third period to rally past the Millionaires 4-3.
Josh Sale led the way for Weyburn with a game-high two goals on the night.
Tylan Henrikson and Evan Auld both had a goal and an assist, and the previously winless Yorkton Terriers grabbed a weekend sweep over the Humboldt Broncos with a 5-2 victory.
League goals leader Jacob Strizzi scored his eighth of the campaign for Humboldt, and has goals in all but two Bronco games so far this season.
Rookie Kason Kobelka continued his brilliant start to his season as he made 21 stops for his first career SJHL shutout in a 2-0 Melfort Mustangs win over the Battlefords North Stars.
Newly acquired forward Reis Nyland scored the winner 1:44 into the game.
Finally, the La Ronge Ice Wolves notched their first victory of the campaign behind a beautiful overtime wrister from William Knox 1:18 into the extra frame. The host Wolves took the contest 4-3 over the visiting Estevan Bruins.
