SATURDAY RECAP: Hawks clip Broncos at EPA

REGINA, SK – Carter Anderson scored the winner 1:37 into the second period, and Gage Roberts stopped 36 shots in the shutout as the Nipawin Hawks blanked the Humboldt Broncos 1-0 at the Elgar Petersen Arena Saturday.

It was the rookie Roberts’ first career win and shutout.

Rylan Williams and Treycen Wuttunee scored twice as the Battlefords North Stars downed the Weyburn Red Wings 4-3 at Crescent Point Place. It is the identical score by which the Stars beat the Wings Friday night in Weyburn.

Ashton Hutchinson’s first-period backhand from in tight held up as the Melfort Mustangs held on to a 2-1 win at home over the Notre Dame Hounds. The defending champs swept all three games they played this week.

The Kindersley Klippers rallied from down two to start the third period against the Flin Flon Bombers but fell to a Carter Anderson overtime winner with nine seconds remaining in overtime to fall 4-3.

Finally, the Ice Wolves scored four unanswered goals in La Ronge to earn the sweep vs. the Estevan Bruins with a 4-1 victory.
