SATURDAY RECAP: Hounds rally past Terriers in Canora

CANORA, SK – Hudson Kerr scored twice in the third period, and Anthony Nolan notched the winner as the Notre Dame Hounds rallied to edge the Yorkton Terriers 4-3 Saturday at a neutral-site game in Canora, SK.

Both goalies were terrific on the evening, with the Terriers’ Luke McKecknie and the Hounds’ Spencer Borsos making over 53 saves each.

In Flin Flon, the Bombers extended their unbeaten in regulation run to 21 games with a tight 3-2 victory over the Kindersley Klippers. Anthony Piccininno scored the winner at the 11:12-mark of the final frame as Mike Reagan’s men closed the gap on No. 1 Melfort to nine points.

Colton Getzlaff scored four goals on the night, tied the game with just over five minutes remaining in the third period, and then scored the winner in the shootout as the Battlefords North Stars downed the Humboldt Broncos 5-4 at the Elgar Petersen Arena. Marik Mamic led the way for Humboldt with a pair of goals.

Raine Hodge scored twice for Melville against his old club, the Estevan Bruins, and the Millionaires cruised to a 5-1 win behind 36 stops from Nick Genette.

Finally, in Weyburn, it was all Red Wings as the hosts had seven different goal scorers en route to an 8-2 victory over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
