Hawks Still Unbeaten, Broncos Win Second Straight

The remarkable comeback of Brayden Camrud and Derek Patter to the Humboldt Broncos’ lineup took another big step forward on Saturday, as Camrud scored twice and Patter added a goal and an assist, as the Broncos won their second straight and first at home this season, 4-2 over the Battlefords North Stars.

Chase Felgueiras also scored and Dane Dow stopped 23/25 shots for the Broncos (2-2-0-0) who got back to .500.

Joel Gryzbowski made 33/37 saves for the North Stars (1-3-0-0) while MacGregor Sinclair and Matthias Urbanski did the scoring.

The defending champs are still unbeaten, as the Nipawin Hawks beat the Flin Flon Bombers 3-1, sweeping their second straight home and home weekend while improving to 4-0-0-0.

Declan Hobbs got the night off for the first time, but Patrick Pugliese made 24/25 saves in his Hawks’ regular season debut, and never missed a beat.  Nipawin has allowed just four goals in four games to start the year.

Austen Flaman (1g-1a), Jaxsen Wiebe and Arek Breton scored for the Hawks.  Jessie Young answered for the Bombers (2-2-0-0) and Hunter Young stopped 29/31 shots.
